From Drake's Beach, we ventured on to the lighthouse on the very end of the Point Reyes peninsula. The lighthouse is a good 45 minute drive from the park entrance, which gives you some idea of the size of the place.

Here's an overview of the lighthouse buildings. The walkway on the right leads back up to the visitor's center, which is a 30 story climb. The lighthouse is situated down on the cliff (about 220 feet up from the water) so that it's underneath the fog as much as possible.

The new lighthouse is just below the large building in the middle of the picture.
